take notes for yourself, not others

Now that I've started to publish my digital garden I've noticed myself thinking "I could write a review and publish it as a note" and other focused-on-being-perceived things.

Sometimes that's useful: I want to share information in a reusable way, so when I was showing off Troop 539's sawdust burner while cold weather camping I realized I could copy and paste what it was and how to make it in each place, or I could create a note and share the public link.

But I want my notes to be by and large for myself: things I've learned, beliefs I have, etc. share what you've learned, but I've always done my best work when I do what I want and anyone else who sees or enjoys it is a pleasant side effect. Making notes primarily for others will change how and what I write.
